Sequoia Rose wanted to make an album that highlights the sound of an earlier generation, while at the same time pushing the boundaries of the genre in bold and exciting new ways. Inspiring a new generation of pickers and expanding the realm of possibility with new and uncharted territory. Bluegrass isn't just for old people anymore but those old songs give me goosebumps they sound so good don't they? The moral of the story is "Bluegrass is cool, and bluegrass is for everyone!" The emotional and reminiscent, transient singer songwriter ballad "Back To My Roots" inspires us to travel the world and find adventure while at the same time remembering where we came from and who we really are. One must refuse to let the world bring them down even though things might not always be easy, there's always a silver lining and a positive mindset of gratefulness to pull us through. "All I Ever Loved Was You" features Sequoia Rose on mandolin, guitar, and vocals. This song is done like the original, but with a few modern twists. "Crazy Heart" features Clay Hess on banjo, tight three piece harmony, and just enough icing on the cake to keep ya coming back for more! If hard driving progressive instrumental tunes and mandolin picking are your thing, "West Union" and "Lambaste" will be sure to tickle your eardrums and get you pumped to run a marathon, go to battle, lift weights, or something else epic and intense like that! There are some seriously talented, incredible, and killer musicians featured on these tunes including Sequoia Rose on mandolin, Scott Vestal on banjo, Andy Leftwich on fiddle, Barry Bales on bass, Randy Kohrs on dobro, and Cody Kilby on guitar! Cody Kilby, Andy Leftwich, and Barry Bales also join Sequoia for the fiddle tune "Miller's Reel" which is done in the traditional way, but with so much precision and excellence that you can't help but get up and dance for this one! The rambling heartbreak, down on my luck song "Cold Like The Rain," is about a sensual woman with no moral compass, misleading the ones that love her, and breaking the hearts of the ones who try to save her. The down to earth love anthem "Please Don't Fade Away" is a funny take on the struggles that come with relationships and the reality that true love will heal a person. The ones that we love are worth fighting for, and it is a choice that we must make every day to keep fighting for the ones that we love. "Trap House Blues" is a hauntingly, soulful, and heartfelt take on the relationship between people and drugs in this country. There were over 100,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States of America from 2021 to 2022 including many of my friends, and friends of friends. It is such a huge problem that people really need to be made aware of, and informed about how it's never too late to change if you've already went down that road and need to get help. If you put your mind to it, you can become anyone that you want to be, it simply requires hard work and determination. This album takes you on a rollercoaster ride of high quality bluegrass! Keeping the traditions alive and preserving a sound and a style that has touched so many hearts and souls throughout the years, you will be confident that the future of bluegrass is in good hands and headed in the right direction after just a few tracks.

This is a collection of songs, some of which were recorded years ago, and some just recently. So much has happened since I started on this journey and I've experienced rejection, loss, health struggles both physically as well as mentally, but through it all I never gave up and just kept working. I followed my heart and it led me "Back To My Roots." I'd like to thank the people who were there, just know that you are family, I love you, and the impact you made in my life will last forever. I would like to thank most of all my beautiful wife Lana Rose, without your love I would not have the energy or the inspiration to make any of this happen and I will love you for infinity.

Back To My Roots Music and Lyrics - Sequoia Rose Recorded at Sequoia Rose Productions Recording Engineer - Sequoia Rose Guitar - Sequoia Rose Bass - Sequoia Rose Vocals - Sequoia Rose Background Vocals - Sequoia Rose

Back To My Roots is about how life can take you many places, some good and some bad, but don’t lose yourself in the mix no matter what happens. People will look down on the poor and judge a person simply because they don’t have money. This world will make you feel like you don’t deserve to live if you don’t have a fat wallet, but you can find happiness if you surround yourself with unconditionally loving people. Be a friend, show love, be the change you want to see in the world, be yourself and do what you love without any expectations and you can't ever go wrong!

The endless road must travel on Forgetting how to sing a song Don’t lose yourself along the way Fight for your dreams for all your days This life is full of give and take Not who you are but what you make I’m trying to just live my best life and no second place will not suffice I’ve been to lots of places I’ve traveled coast to coast No where can come close to the place I love the most Way back in the mountains will always be my home Back to my roots again and never more to roam Many people come and go But a true friend there love will show To heal takes time and it isn’t quick Building your future brick by brick Don’t get caught up in all the games There’s more to life than wealth or fame Just do your thing and make a name Break out away from all the same I’ve been to lots of places I’ve traveled coast to coast No where can come close to the place I love the most Way back in the mountains will always be my home Back to my roots again and never more to roam I’ve been to lots of places I’ve traveled coast to coast No where can come close to the place I love the most Way back in the mountains will always be my home Back to my roots again and never more to roam

Cold Like The Rain Music and Lyrics - Sequoia Rose Recorded at Sequoia Rose Productions Recording Engineer - Sequoia Rose Guitar - Sequoia Rose Bass - Sequoia Rose Vocals - Sequoia Rose Background Vocals - Sequoia Rose

Cold Like The Rain is about doing everything you can to please someone, and they simply refuse to be happy. No matter what you say, they refuse to hear you, and it hurts so bad because all you are trying to do is love them. There’s only so much anyone can handle when trying to make someone love them, but the reality is that you shouldn’t have to make someone love you at all. When you are in a one-sided relationship, its always better to just move on and work towards healing the wounds that cut so very deep, learn from your mistakes, and make better choices the next time around; just whatever you do don’t give up and it’ll all be okay.

Heartache like no other Just can’t catch a break One right after another I don’t know which road to take Meet you in the middle But you know it goes both ways There’s only so much bullshit I can take Your heart is cold like the rain yeah You read my lips but you don’t hear the words I say no It hurts so bad that I don’t know if I’m okay hey And all I did was try to make you my lil baby What was I thinking right Run thru forever they really cant slow us down Rip out the pages we don’t want to be weighed down On to make a new start Put a bandage on my heart Try to put my life together But it always falls apart Wish that I could go on back Make a better choice I lost it all and then forgot my voice Your heart is cold like the rain yeah You read my lips but you don’t hear the words I say no It hurts so bad that I don’t know if I’m okay hey And all I did was try to make you my lil baby What was I thinking right Run thru forever they really cant slow us down Rip out the pages we don’t want to be weighed down All my mistakes have taught me to not give up just always find a way It might not be easy but it’s all going to be okay Run thru forever they really cant slow us down Rip out the pages we don’t want to be weighed down

Please Don’t Fade Away Music and Lyrics - Sequoia Rose Recorded at Sequoia Rose Productions Recording Engineer - Sequoia Rose Guitar - Sequoia Rose Bass - Sequoia Rose Drums - Sequoia Rose Vocals - Sequoia Rose Background Vocals - Sequoia Rose

Being in a relationship isn't easy, but loving you comes natural.

You know we’ve done this all before Your telling me pack my bags and walk on out the door Take a walk to settle down and your calling my phone before I even get around That’s just the way the wheels on this old bus are going round

But when you smile everything is all okay A millions miles I’d run to see your pretty face You know I love you but it’s hard to trust I know I don’t wanna walk away don’t wanna go I won’t let you fade away me and you for all my days

Your making me a better person everyday Never felt like this before in any way Don’t ever doubt that you will always have my heart Never gave a fuck but your love made me start Never gave a fuck but your love made me start

But when you smile everything is all okay A millions miles I’d run to see your pretty face You know I love you but it’s hard to trust I know I don’t wanna walk away don’t wanna go I won’t let you fade away me and you for all my

Days are long without you by my side Nothing I do will mean a thing Your love is the only reason that I sing It’s the reason that I’m doing anything Without your love I just can’t do a thing

But when you smile everything is all okay A millions miles I’d run to see your pretty face You know I love you but it’s hard to trust I know I don’t wanna walk away don’t wanna go I won’t let you fade away me and you for all my days

Crazy Heart Music and Lyrics - Billy Boone Smith Recorded at Bellew Grass Studios Recording Engineer - John Bellew Banjo - Clay Hess Guitar - Sequoia Rose Mandolin - Sequoia Rose Bass - John Bellew

This song is about a toxic love that you can't seem to walk away from.

Crazy heart, I wish I didn't love you So I could turn around and walk away I've only got a half a mind to leave you Your crazy heart is drivin' me insane

Like a wild west wind, so uncertain You're changing like the weather everyday One night we're in love, the next I'm hurting Your crazy heart is drivin' my insane

Crazy heart, I wish I didn't love you So I could turn around and walk away I've only got a half a mind to leave you Your crazy heart is drivin' me insane

Now I only want a love that I can count on And hold to the promises you made How can it feel so right and then go so wrong Your crazy heart is driving me insane

Crazy heart, I wish I didn't love you So I could turn around and walk away I've only got a half a mind to leave you Your crazy heart is drivin' me insane

Crazy heart, I wish I didn't love you So I could turn around and walk away I've only got a half a mile to leave you Your crazy heart is drivin' me insane

Trap House Blues Music and Lyrics - Sequoia Rose Recorded at Sequoia Rose Productions Recording Engineer - Sequoia Rose Bass - Sequoia Rose Guitar - Sequoia Rose Vocals - Sequoia Rose Background Vocals - Sequoia Rose

This song is about the toxic relationship between the addict and drugs.

Underneath the Willow tree
No ones coming after me
Give it up a time or two
Just to waste my life you
When we met you took my pain away
Now your all that’s hurting me these days Here I am down on both my knees
Can I walk away I don’t believe

 It’s a trap it’s a trap you ain’t ever coming back
When the needle is all you have to love
Go away go away don’t come back another day You have taken all that’s left to take away

Take me to a higher place then you throw it in my face Every hr of the day you look for me and call my name Drowning in the ocean of your touch
Any power left at all it isn’t much
When it finally happens you will never know
In the dark there’s really no where else to go
Everyday it’s all the same and I’m calling out your name
But I’m six feet beneath the ground and in my grave

It’s a trap it’s a trap you ain’t ever coming back
When the needle is all you have to love
Go away go away don’t come back another day You have taken all that’s left to take away

It’s a trap it’s a trap you ain’t ever coming back
When the needle is all you have to love
Go away go away don’t come back another day You have taken all that’s left to take away

 Run away run away
Don’t you give your life away
Run away run away
Don’t let her hurt you all this way Don’t let you her lead you all a stray

All I Ever Loved Was You Music and Lyrics - Dorothy Skaggs Recorded at Bellew Grass Studios Recording Engineer - John Bellew Bass - John Bellew Guitar - Sequoia Rose Mandolin - Sequoia Rose Vocals - Sequoia Rose Background Vocals - Sequoia Rose

Beautiful love and heartbreak song.

All I ever loved was you You broke a heart that cried for you I’ve wasted all my tears on you For all I’ve ever loved was you

Go out and find somebody new But you’ll be sorry if you do You’ll never find a love so true For all I ever loved was you

Buy her rings and diamonds too But you’ll be sorry if you do You’ll never find a love so true For all I ever loved was you
